Cua Ong Temple Festival It’ s held in Cua Ong Temple, Cam Pha town, Quang Ninh Province, in attending to the General of army Tran Quoc Tang, the third son of Tran Hung Dao, who crushed many enemies and brought peace to the region in the 13rd century. Co Loa Festival It takes place every year at An Duong Vuong Temple, in Co Loa commune, Dong Anh District, in Hương Pagoda Festival People also called Huong Pagoda Festival, this pagoda is placed in the mountain. Thousands of pilgrims and visitors come to admire the beautiful landscapes, grottoes, caves and pagodas in this area. Vieng Market It ‘ s held in Vu Ban and Nam Truc Districts, Nam Dinh Province at night on 07 th of January of lunar calendar until the dawn of 08th. This spring market displays handicraft products and ornamental plants. All kinds of goods are bought and sold. Every year, on 10th of January of lunar calendar, thousands of travellers concentrate in Sinh village- situated on the south bank of the Celebrated in Huong Hai Commune, Huong Dien District, Lim Festival (Quan Ho Folk Song Festival) It ‘s opened on 13th of January – lunar calendar – just on the first of Lim market – day, on Lim hill, Lim town, Tien Du district, Bac Ninh province which is far away from Hanoi 18kms. Lim Festival commemorates the Hieu Trung Hau King and Queen, the founders of Quan Ho melodies and folk song. Quan Ho folk-songs originated in Bac Ninh province, they can be sung at home, at communal house or on hill..., depending on solo performance, repartee. . . . . . During the festival which is held every year, particularly in spring, young, men and women gather in the yard of a communal house or pagoda, on a hill or in a rowing boat and sing Quan Ho. This is a style of singing where songs alternate from group to group, going back and forth from one to the other. Quan Ho singing is a folk art of highly collective nature. Those who sing are not entertainers, but all are part of the performance, and everyone is welcome to join. Dong Nhan Festival( (03/02 until 06/02 - lunar calendar ) Dong Nhan Temple is placed in Hai Ba Trung district, Hanoi capital. The Temple is devoted to the two Trung Sisters, also called Hai Ba Trung, two heroines who achieved great distinction fighting against foreign aggressors, securing independence for the country and adding a lustrous page to the history of the nation. Hai Bà Trưng’s heroic uprising against the ruling Chinese lasted 3 years and was defeated. However this uprising is an event of great significance as it left a bright example to later generations. At Kim Thai Commune, Vu Ban District, in Thay Pagoda Festival Thay Pagoda festival is attractive to many visitors because of the myth surrounding Monk Tu Dao Hanh and his feats- the beautiful scenery and the water puppet shows. Lang Pagoda was built in the 12th century under Ly Dynasty. It was located Lang Thuong ward, Dong Da district, Hanoi. The main festival day is on 07th of March - lunar calendar. On this day, after making rituals, at noon the saint's palanquin procession goes along the To Lich River Bank and returns to Lang Pagoda. The festival also involves traditional games: swinging, wrestling, chess playing, tuong, cheo singing and worshipping sing. Truong Yen Festival( (10/3 – lunar calendar) Truong Yen festival or called Hoa Lu Ancient Capital festival. It is held on 10th of March – lunar calendar, in Truong Yen commune, Hoa Lư district, Ninh Bình province. The most solemn rituals of the festival are the water procession and sacrifices - offering ceremony. The sacrifices - offering ceremonies take place at midnight in Dinh and Le temples at the same time.The worship is included water procession at Truong Yen water station located on Hoang Long river. The most special game of Truong Yen Festival is called " manoeuvre game with reed flag", which replays the childhood of Dinh Bo Linh as a buffalo boy in Truong Yen. Coming to the festival is an opportunity for visitors to visit the ancient capital of the Dinh and Le courts, which mark the glorious period of unifying and establishing the country after suffering more than a thousand years under Northern Domination. The festival lasts for 3 days from the 9th to the 11th of March of lunar calendar. A day before the festival, ancient and modern flags are hung along the road from Viet Tri to Hung mountain. Banh chung (square cake) and banh day (circle cake) are also served to remind people of the Lang Lieu Legend (the 18th Hung King who invented these cakes), and the merit of the Hung Kings who taught people to grow rice. The Hung King temple festival does not only attract visitors from everywhere but also allows them to participate in the special traditional cultural activities, and it is also a sacred pilgrimage back to the origins of Vietnamese culture. In the days of Dong Xam Temple Festival, a great deal of beautiful silver carving products are displayed and sold as souvenir for tourists. Dau Pagoda Festival The Dau Pagoda, also known as Phap Van, Dieu Ung or Co Chau pagoda, is located in Thanh Khuong commune, Thuan Thanh district, in the north of Bac Ninh province. This place was the capital of Giao Chi district, which was then called Giao Chau: the political, economic, cultural centre of The pagoda , at the centre of the prominent historical and cultural sites in the north of Bac Ninh province; is the Buddhism cultural activities of farmers. Those which are "homeless" should be "fed" and appeased with offerings of food. Merits for the living are also earned by the release of birds and fish. Apart from the incensation, people would also burn other things such as paper houses, cars, servants and televisions to please the "homeless". To the Buddhism, this festival coincides with Vu Lan festival,the Vietnamese transliteration for Ullambana. At present Vu Lan festival is also seen as Mother's Day. Kiep Bac temple is located in Chi Linh district, Hai Duong province. This is a charming mountains and rivers area. OCTOBER Keo Pagoda Festival The Keo Pagoda festival is annually held for three days, from 13th to 15th of September - lunar calendar to worship Buddhist Duong Khong Lo. Keo Pagoda Festival is a three days festival celebrating the traditional customs and religious ceremonies of Co Le pagoda festival takes place from 13th to 16th of September - lunar calendar, in Co Le town, Truc Ninh district, Nam Dinh province Co Le pagoda has a 12-storey tower named Cuu Pham Lien Hoa, which lies on a big turtle. Oc Om Boc Festival is held on 15th of December – lunar calendar, in Soc Trang province and it is celebrated the thank to the moon god for bringing good crops, abundant fish in the river and maintain the health of all the villagers. The most colorful event of the Oc Om Boc Festival is the flying of paper lanterns and placing banana tree ferries attached with lights in the river. This is believed to sweep away the darkness and humidity of the rainy season. Oc Om Boc Festival is also a festival of fun. The traditional Ngo boat (wooden boat carved on both bow and stern) race is the highlight of the day next to the full moon night. This race is marked by the participation of many enthusiastic viewers who scream and encourage the participants to reach the finishing line first. The completion of the boat race signifies the completion of the villager’s responsibility to the moon god. It is held on 16th to the end of August – lunar calendar, in Vinh long province.
