Pu Luong

Pu Luong in Thai language is the highest peak. Pu Luong Nature Reserve belongs to Ba Thuoc and Quan Hoa districts and Thanh Hoa. It has an area of more than 17,600 ha and rich flora and fauna with the untouched beauty of the rainforest. This place is one of the North West tourist attractions that attracts many visitors. 

The best time to visit Pu Luong is during rice harvest season, from September to November or February until May. This time, the plantation is lush and weather is pleasant. Pu Luong can be best accessed either from Mai Chau or NinhBinh. 

When discovering this landscape, you can trekking in the forest and a long rice paddy fields, cycling through the reserve and visit many beautiful small villages are among the activities travelers like, take a swim at Thac Hieu waterfall, enjoy an authentic homestay...Pu Luong is among a few "off the beaten path" places near Hanoi that receives recommendations from explorers recently.

About the transportation: Pu Luong is about 150 kilometres from Hanoi, and takes approximately four and half hours to reach by car. Travellers can also hire private shuttles from Hanoi, with a stop in Mai Chau along the way. There is no direct public buses from Hanoi but there are buses to Mai Chau from My Dinh bus station, where you can take a taxi for the remaining 90-minute drive to Pu Luong.
