US Thrillist: Lan Ha Bay is among the most lovely places in Southeast Asia to visit

Kastalia Medrano, an editor of the US Thrillist, with her two months experience as a backpacker travelling throughout Southeast Asian countries admitted that it is impossible to get rid of the feeling of FOMO (Fear of Missing Out Phobia). According to Kastalia, there are many sites in the world travellers may miss out on or find hard to decide which to visit.

With more than 40 UNESCO World Heritage sites stretching from eastern India to China - and encompassing both the mainland and a constellation of islands in the surrounding seas - Southeast Asia’s 11 countries are dotted with rainforests and rivers, ancient temples and cutting-edge skyscrapers, and a cornucopia of cuisine that swings from street food to Michelin-starred hawker halls.

If travellers have to choose one in each spot, Lan Ha Bay (North Vietnam) is one of the places travellers should definitely check off the list.

Lan Ha Bay

Located in the south of Ha Long Bay - UNESCO World Heritage site, the attraction of Lan Ha Bay is small islands with sandy beaches at the foot of rocky mountains, forming separate and pristine beaches. The editor of US Thrillist suggests travellers to rent a boat to explore or simply spend the day swimming.

There is a floating village that has existed for thousands of years, with about 200 households living. The bay has hundreds of small islands, of which Cat Ba is the largest. Here offers over 100 hotels in the immediate vicinity so visitors can stay in the area and enjoy the place, described Kastalia Medrano.

The floating village that Medrano mentioned is Cai Beo, where visitors can visit fish rafts and buy seafood. In addition, Ba Trai Dao Island and Monkey Island are also highlighted attractions. Van Boi beach, Van Ha beach or calm seas like Sen and Cu islands are places where visitors can dive and see corals.

Other places in Southeast Asia such as Angkor Wat (Cambodia), Kuang Si Falls (Laos), the ancient capital of Bagan (Myanmar), Chiang Mai (Thailand), Tun Sakaran Marine Park, Borneo (Malaysia), Gardens by the Bay (Singapore), Banaue Rice Terraces (Philippines), Kelimutu National Park (Indonesia), Kampong Ayer (Brunei) and Atauro Island (Timor-Leste).
